History

Portuguese Youth was originally founded by Mr.Christie, a local football legend from the Portuguese Settlement. He started with a group of boys from the church servers community and formed a team called 'SERVERS FC'. Mr. Christie wanted to reform a team that was once a top class team in old Malacca known, also then Portuguese Youth and Young Vinolia , reliving the Glory days that many other football teams had feared in the 70s & 80s. However, due to his poor health, Mr. Christie stepped down from Management and took on the role of advisor.

2002

2002 was a year of change for the club Mr. Simon Beunaventura (a member of the Young Vinolians) took on the responsibility and challenge of being the clubs manager, breathing new life and injecting his own unique way of management. 2002 also introduced Captain Dara, a great man who has sponsored the club till this day and renaming the football club to Portuguese Youth FC.

2006

In 2006, Portuguese Youth FC, represented by Mr. Simon, became a member of SFA (St. Francis Association) as most of our players were ex and current students of St. Francis Institution, a Lasallian school founded in 1880 by the Lasallian Brothers. Currently today we are known as PYFC (Portuguese Youth Football Club) and in the Malacca League we are representing as and for SFA (St. Francis Association). PYFC has over 40 players, with ages ranging from 15 to 45 (with players who have been in the club since only 12). Playing on average 30 to 40 games a year, PYFC has also had several trips and events around Malaysia (Especially in KL) and has participated in a few tournaments.

This club was founded mainly for the good of our boys and the community. Staying together, sharing the same passion for the game, learning values of friendship and values of life that would play a big part in all of our futures and most importantly to keep the boys out of negative activities, offering them our support, help and advice in times of need. In hopes that our small club would be seen as much more than just any other small local football team, creating an example for all communities to admire and be inspired. Our small part is a start and a part of the big world.
